Minister for Housing welcomes interim findings on unfinished housing developments and announces €5M allocation for local authorities for immediate safety issues and works

Minister for Housing and Local Services, Mr. Michael Finneran T.D., today (17th February) welcomed the interim analysis and findings of the Advisory Group on Unfinished Housing Developments. The two most critical matters the Group considered were public safety and the living conditions of residents in unfinished developments. There are approximately 400 housing developments, which are particularly problematic and will be the focus for initial action. An allocation of €5m is being made available to Local Authorities to deal with immediate safety issues and works to improve the living conditions for existing residents. While the Advisory Group is still finalising its analysis and recommendations, the Chair of the Group, Mr. John O’Connor reported to Minister Finneran on emerging findings across a range of areas.

Honorary CIH Membership for Chief Executive

John O’Connor, Chief Executive of the Housing and Sustainable Communities Agency was last night awarded honorary membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) at its annual Presidential Dinner in London.
